Northumberland to host national cycle race over two days

The Friends for Life Tour of Britain is the UK's largest professional cycle race. The event will be broadcast to 130 countries and some of the world's top cyclists are expected to participate including Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish. The eight day race will start on Sunday 6 September 2015 and will enter Northumberland from the Scottish Borders on Wednesday 9 September. On the 10 September the race will continue from Prudhoe and will follow Hadrians Wall heading across the Pennines. It is expected that crowds will visit the area to cheer on the competitors. The two stages of the event in Northumberland will showcase different areas of the county. ITV and ITV 4 will be covering the event.
