New Cycle Path to Link Berwick and Hexham13th January 2015
A new cycle path is to open in June of this year which will link the historic towns of Hexham and Berwick. The Sandstone Way will travel along the Sandstone Ridge in North Northumberland and users will be able to appreciate the spectacular beauty of the area along the route. The route will pass through the towns of Wooler, Belford, Rothbury, Elsdon and Bellingham, all very picturesque towns. It will be the first long-distance, linear mapped and promoted mountain bike route in England. The aim is that it will appeal to riders of all abilities with some more experienced cyclists being able to complete the route in two days.
