Kielder Wildwood Project25th January 2017
Kielder Wildwood Project is to receive a grant of over £20,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The aim is to plant around thirty thousand new trees including scotch pine, alder, birch, mountain ash, willow and juniper. The trees will be planted in a two kilometre piece of land at Kielderhead National Nature Reserve, a large undisturbed moorland. The new woodland would see a wider range of wildlife including the threatened black grouse and birds such as a ring ouzel.
