Kielder Awarded Heritage Lottery Fund Grant10th January 2016
The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded Kielder Water and Forest Park Development Trust a grant of over £17,000 to develop its Living Wild at Kielder Project. The venture will aid visitors to the area improve their knowledge of wildlife in the forest through the development of 'nature hubs'. Wildlife trails will be created in the local area with the support of the local community in areas like Falstone, Greenhaugh and Stonehaugh. There are plans to support the long term protection of the wildlife particularly at the nature reserve of Bakethin Nature Reserve. Kielder Salmon Centre will also see an improvement in their facilities. There are plans to apply for more funding in the spring to support the continual improvements which will benefit both the visitors to the area and the wildlife who inhabit Kielder.
